My story - Yankuba Conteh
My name is Yankuba, but most people simply call me Yanku.
I was born and raised in The Gambia, and for the past 16 years I’ve dedicated my life to welcoming travelers from every corner of the world. What started with a simple car and a passion for meeting people grew into what is now
Yanku Gambia Tours.
I believe a good guide is more than someone who shows you places. A good guide is someone who makes you feel safe, understood, and connected. That’s why my guests often say I am not just their driver or guide; I become their friend in The Gambia.
I speak English, Wolof, Mandinka, and even a little German and Dutch, but more important than language is understanding: knowing when to explain, when to give you space, and when to step in to make things easier.
With me, you’ll never feel lost. From airport pick-ups to safaris, cultural experiences, or even helping with SIM cards, currency exchange, or bookings. I handle everything so you can simply enjoy your journey.
For me, every traveler is family. My goal is not just to take you on tours, but to make you fall in love with The Gambia the way I do, with honesty, professionalism, and warmth. That’s why many of my guests return again and again.
